Admiralty and Maritime Law -We represent our clients on issues relating to the movement of cargo on the high
seas. Our experience includes matters involving coastwise shipping, ocean marine
cargo, maritime insurance and inland marine cargo. We have experience in matters
involving the Carriage of Goods By Sea Act, the Harter Act and the Interstate
Commerce Act. Our experience also includes vessel arrests, ship and yacht
finance, subrogation claims, shipboard investigations, hull and machinery
claims, maritime contracts, marine pollution and environmental compliance,
personal injury, and all aspects of cruise line claims handling, including
passenger personal injury claims, Jones Act claims, passage contract tickets,
port service agreements, pollution matters, risk management and customer service
concerns.
Alternative Dispute Resolution - Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) is the process of resolving legal conflicts without going to trial. In many instances, ADR is in the best interest of clients and meets their needs better than traditional litigation. When appropriate, we advise clients on arbitration, international dispute resolution, mediation, mini-trials, and private judging. We have substantial experience in ADR and routinely advise our clients on the legal consequences flowing from ADR options.
Business and Commercial Law - We offer a wide variety of services and advice to our business clients, ranging from selecting the type of organizational entity under which to operate, to preparation of agreements, pre-litigation counseling, pre-suit ADR, and workers compensation issues from the management standpoint.
Insurance Law - Our insurance company clients retain us to represent their insureds in litigated matters involving loss or damage to intrastate, interstate and international cargo. We also represent insurers directly in first party claims brought by policyholders, and we provide coverage advice on claimed losses where appropriate.
Litigation and Appeals - We handle trials and appeals at all levels of the state and federal court systems, on all matters affecting our business and commercial clients.
Transportation Law - Our corporate clients include railroads, steamship lines, trucking companies, freight forwarders (surface, air and ocean), transportation brokers, and moving and storage companies. We represent these companies in their contract and litigation matters and in compliance actions involving government regulatory agencies such as the Surface Transportation Board and the Florida Department of Transportation.
